Sarah McLachlan was the original artist, and the song's called 'Possession'. Silly. The whole 'Fumbling Towards Ecstasy' album is great.
She actually lifted the lyrics from a letter a stalker wrote to her before he killed himself... but she's girl music, so I won't hold it against you that you didn't know.
